(p) = permenant, (number) = repeat contracts
I am currently working on my own projects. Please mail me to talk about future contracts.
I am responsible for the entire front-end of a large new website. This will be an incredibly modern, dynamic site built under incredible pressure!
This was a short contract fixing style bugs and plumbing in feeds for a large Wordpress site Dezeen.
As I built the original templates for this site I was asked back to clean up the mess various companies had made plumbing them in to the CMS. I also spent time building new sections and streamlining the code as much as possible. Filmclub is a government agency serving over 7000 schools so great attention had to be paid to backwards compatibility and accessibility.
Using PSDs created by Airside I provided the 27 XHTML/CSS/jQuery templates that would grow up to be the filmclub.org website that now serves over 7000 schools in the UK. Airside were so happy with my work that they recommended me to both Filmclub and Alex+Alex.
Honeyslug is an awesome indie games company run by my good friend Ricky Haggett. With Honeyslug I created a bonkers plasticine Wordpress theme for their game Kahoots And also the XHTML/CSS/XML templates for their own website Honeyslug.
Zattikka is another independent games company. For them I created 2 XHTML/CSS/jQuery microsites from PSDs.
Here I completed all of the templates for the Google Bubble website. This included using their own excellent Javascript libraries which in turn got me interested in Object Oriented Javascript.
Nakama are a huge digital agency who employ 100s of develops. I have done many contracts with them in the past, so I was very flattered when they asked me to build the HTML version of all their international sites.
I have an ongoing relationship with the BBC. I was the lead developer on the BBC Hindi redesign. This involved
converting all of their old templates in to the new format and working closely with deisgners to make sure
everything looked OK. This was an Agile and Sprint environment. I have also worked on long contracts
making microsites and updating content for Entertainment and Radio.
While at the BBC I also developed an application called 'myLive' in my own free time. I was fustrated that
our staging server looked nothing like the live server so it was difficult to see if our changes worked
before we put them live. myLive uses a jQuery bookmarklet to insert your local css in to any live server.
The BBC still use it today.
At Fresh Media Group my vast experience was soon noticed and I was asked to lead a small team of developers both here and in their Indian office. I am responsible for theming their Drupal sites so I quickly had to get my head around this technology. I have implemented and documented best practice for this and I spend my days writing CSS, core jscript libraries and debugging other peoples code. I often hold talks with designers to instruct them on how to design more accessible sites.
iI was the lead front-end developer on a number of clients. I built J-Query and Mootools systems for a variety of in-house applications. This company specialises in accessibility and pure front-end development.
Wilson Fletcher were kind enough to give me 3 freelance contracts after I left my permentant position with them. My relationship with them continues today.
AKQA are one of the biggest Digital agencies in the world. Here I worked on large corporate websites such as Sky, Sainsburys, Nike, Reebok & PG Tips
At endemol I spent one year woking on their Big Brother website as well as developing a hide website for a now defunked VOIP company.
At channel 4 I created many microsotes for their television programmes
Lateral were a huge new media agency based in Shoreditch. At lateral I worked mainly on the Nike client. Sadly lateral are no longer with us.
Zinc were a huge new media company where I worked as a youngster. With Zinc I produced websites for Microsoft UK, Vodafone, Ford and others. Sady Zinc are also no longer with us.
1999 was a very different time indeed. Even though I had minimal experience I managed to land myself a job in a merchant bank aged just 18. This job mainly involved building and amending their staff intranet.
Telewest originally started as a customer services job while I was at school. However, due to my outside interest in the fledgling internet I managed to land a job creating an internal intranet for the company.
